For we who are planting cotton on 38"beds it is a good way........plant single 38" row cotton, followed by 8" twins on 38" beds the following year. Then plant twin soys the following year....all notill.......most, easy, profit I ever made growing cotton and soys. Corn: harvesting is no problem, as long as corn has a good stalk......not supposed to be drought in an irrigated field.....water every middle, not every other. push plant pop. to 34-36K , 32 would be normal "here"(irrigated) Now, if cotton is no longer going to be grown on this farm we will go to 30" and sell the twin, because a 38" row x 8" twin is in reality is a 30 " row, because 38-8=30. BTW I do have a Great Plains 3PTYP 12x38 stacker planter. Staggers corn plants OK and will plant" seeds per ft", rather than lbs. per A. Depth control is good and central fill is great. All in all I like it. Summary: "Here" as long as we are growing cotton, or think we will, I will grow twin grains. If we quit growing cotton for good ( a real possibility) I'll grow 30's on every thing. Have a good night, John |
