 northeastern Ohio | Growing up, I only remember JD combines: 4400, 4420, 7720,9500, 9560sts.
I traded up to a Gleaner R66 in 2011. I was always running corn out the back of the STS when on hillsides. The Gleaner loaded the shoe much more even and I could run faster with less loss.
Then I upgraded to a S96 in 2020. I liked the R66, but the S96 is a huge upgrade in capacity as well as comfort. Super quiet cab, easy to set. I believe the cascading pan in front of the shoe made cleaning even more efficient and I can run even faster on the flat as well as hills. The reversing fan is a HUGE improvement over the R series.
I the down side of the S96 is the transmission shift actuator. I've already had one actuator fail and I've heard of other guys having problems too. Mine was covered under warranty and maybe the new one is improved?
I think the engineers at Gleaner actually listened to the customers and fixed most every issue that I had with the R series.
I see that MM Weaver is going to be taking over the Binkly/Hurst stores soon...... I bought a Fieldline blower from MM Weaver a couple years ago and was impressed with the store I visited. | |
