North Central Montana | We have been growing green and yellow peas for years in this area. The Flexicoil/ CaseIh/newholland seed carts are the norm. John Deers don’t have any different problems either. We normally seed 150#/acre.
The real key is fan speed. Lots of fan speed. You also have to be careful about raising any lowering the drill because that will pull down the fan speed. If you run too long without enough air moving, you will plug up the runs all the way to the tower.
If you get runs plugged up, the best way we have found to clear them out is a back pack blower. Start by lowering the manifold and start a piece of the 1” seed tube down the hole, the put the other end in the blower pipe. Then gently keep feeding the 1” through the manifold run until it clears. Peas will fly everywhere and it doesn’t take long to blow out the whole manifold that way.
Then remove the caps off of your towers, disconnect your quick connects between cart and plow and then blow out the plow hoses. You will shoot peas 10’ in the air when it clears.
Hope that helps.
