Those sub 75hp tractors still have to meet tier IV emissions. They may not use def but a lot of additional equipment has been added to meet these standards. Compact tractors now have charge air coolers, fuel coolers, EGR, turbo, high pressure common rail fuel injection, ECM, and a DPF exhaust system. None of that is cheap.
