Panhandle of Ne. | We can get by using 105 day corn if we start having a summer again. In '07 had some 105+ day corn that made 220+ and was very good bw, but that was a hot dry year, seed dealer wouldn't sell us any of it in '08 and it was a good thing they wouldn't. It wouldn't have black layered by turkey day that year. Unless we start getting some heat units, we will have to go to 85-90 day corn. We will always make a much better crop on a hot dry year, of course we are irrigated. We are not as high as just east of Denver where they plant 105-110 day corn, go figure. | |
