Southeast Colorado | When I hear someone say it is a wash whether you hire it done or do it yourself I think it deserves some splainin Lucy! Either you don't have much to do or you are independently wealthy enough that it all has to be done with new stuff. Our newest equipment is 11 years old but still nice and enjoyable to drive. I couldn't even dream of hiring almost any farming practice done for the price I can do it. We've paid for combines in 2 years with what the custom bill would have been. Let alone the sprayer, etc.,etc. I started with basically nothing and have land payments to make and if I hired anything done my farm wouldn't cash flow. I suppose everybody's mileage varies depending on acres and available help, but in my situation, hiring my farming done for me would be a quick way to another career. | |
