Subject: Re: what snowblower on your farm

NE S.Dakota
We have a 30yr old Farm King 96 inch, it had been on the 1586 for years, running a 1000 rpm shaft, but the blower was a 540. It has stood up well. A couple years ago we got a 1086 again, so I put the 540 shaft end back on. Last year I was blowing out a neigbor and picked up a 4X4 about 11 inches long, broke the main shaft,on the impeller side. Got the new shaft, and put it in about $200 for the repair. This year I plan to put the blower on my White 6085, about an 80 hp trctor, it has a creeper transmission, but I am concernd if it will have enough power. The FWD and 4 wheel brakes will be nice, but the main reason is: the 1086 has those long axles that protrude past the blower, I have come really close to hitting various things with those axles.
The new Farm King looks basically unchanged, so it has a track record. I have seen some RED Devil blowers that look pretty impressive too.

Good Luck with whatever you decide on
