I have a 2003 chevy with an 8.1 and an Allison and love it. Here is the story on the fuel mileage, I think all 2500 HD 6.0 L come with 4.11 rearends and with an 8.1 L you can get 3.73 rearends. The end result is that they both get equally poor mileage. The advantage of the big block is that it will haul ***!!!!!!!!!!!
