Subject: Soybean seeding rates

Ottawa Valley, Eastern Ontario
Ran a seeding rate trial this year at my place. All seed was Cruiser treated and planted in 15" rows with a corn planter. Used 4 different rates 75,000 seeds/acre,125,000 seeds/acre, 175,000 seeds/acre (my normal seeding rate) and 225,000 seeds/acre. Top yield was 125,000 seeds at 65bu/acre. Second place was 175,000 at 64bu/acre. The high rate was 3rd at 58bu/acre and to my surprise the low rate still yielded 56bu/acre. I always suspected we were probably overseeding soys and I guess this kind of confirms it. Just wondering what other people have seen? I think the the seeding rate for me in the future will probably be around 150-160,000 if I use Cruiser. The soil type is loam -clay loam, Planted May 23, no-tilled into corn stalks and was an IP soy variety. If anybody has info to share I would appreciate it. Thanks.
