Mid Michigan
Broken blend door will cause him to not have heat or not have air conditioning in the summer. Defrost is the "default mode" that the doors go to when they don't have any vacuum to pull them shut. More than likely its a cracked vacuum line fitting going up to the engine. Could also be the ECM that controls the functions. Not having heat on your feet is a real problem. Many vehicles have this fault. Remember the good old days when you could pull a god dam@$% lever and have heat, cool, defrost, or floor? Now we have $40,000 dollar pickups everywhere that drive around with no heat on the floor. My cousin has a Ford doing it right now and one of my friends has a Chevy doing it. Has a blanket in there for his wife's feet!
