Lapel, In | Closely inspect the piston bore plug threads. Those pumps are known to crack right through the threads. Cracks will look like a line through the threads. Have a stand about 15" tall with cradle bolted on to a small floor jack that makes the job easy.Lots easier that the cable method. Seal takes a special driver that keeps the seal from being driven too deep and plugging the seal drain hole.
There is a small line clamp on side of the pump that is easy to miss. Could be your problem.
Be sure to liberally grease all o-rings.
