Southeast Iowa | The hot water system in my neighbor's shop has a thermostat that starts the water moving in the loop; that, in turn causes the hot water heater to heat the water that is moving through it. In your setup, however, the water is being heated more or less continuously, so as was mentioned, it WOULD be a matter of the furnace blower reacting to the water temperature switch high-low set points. That arrangement would probably not be very complicated OR expensive. The TRICK is to make sure that the fan doesn't start until the water coils are good and hot so you don't blow cold air through the house. Most thermostats have a "fan" position so that wire would be the one that the heat-sensing water temperature switch would signal when it was ready to add heat. As was pointed out, the "normal heat" settings on the thermostat would be set slightly low as a back up. | |
