OK .  I accept that explanation.

Impractical ?  Completely!  The maths on pulling the electric vehicle, generating 90+ hp, with something using enough power to also propel itself is  mind boggling.

Another impractical idea [in Aussy land] is to shut down coal fired power generation, while promoting "Electric".

Where does all the power to replace oil based transport power come from?

"They" do not seem at all keen about nuclear power generation.  The 'green' vote is sold on renewable energy.   Their 'voice' will be the ruination of our country  - probably already happened!

We see the same here in North Dakota USA. We have huge coal supplies in western North Dakota and many coal fired power plants, many have been shuttered or torn down. I see that as foolish until they have a practical large electrical storage system in place to store energy from the wind turbines until it is needed. North Dakota is too far north for solar power to be much help, but this is a windy place where the many wind farms can probably generate all the electric power we need, but as of yet there is no way to store it until needed. At this time there is a proposed new wind farm being considered using huge 4-6.5 MW wind generators. This a few miles west of my farm.
