Tractors are fine. But with that little of use I'd plan on having to work on the Egr system and or variable turbo. If you don't have to it will be a bonus. We have a 7730 from 08 got 25000 hours on it. And it has been good tractor but it has its issues sometimes related to previous mentioned systems. We have a couple 2012 R series tractor 6 and two 7s and they give us more fits especially when they sit for a while not being used. I'd guess condensation and soot cause stuff to stick.
JD dealer service manager I know told me the key to actuator life was NOT to let it sit over 30 days at a time. Crank it, let it warm up and throttle it up and back several times. This will cause the turbo actuator to (actuate?). He said this worked the majority of the time to avoid actuators or variable vane turbos from locking up and having to be replaced. |
