| Wilder. If he responds, I’m sure he has many good stories to tell. Talking about testing Deere equipment, my brother and I went to a field on a Friday to try out a new combine series. As I recall, it was something like X7300, but became the 9600. We showed up shortly after the Deere engineer had left for the weekend. We hadn’t made two rounds, when the crew leader came flying up and wanting to switch places pronto. Before we could, the Deere guy pulled up. He had forgotten a bag he wanted. When he saw us, he said, it’s Friday, I’m off the payroll till Monday, and I don’t give a damn who runs this till I’m back Monday. Also, as I recall, we were running maybe a 30’ head, but I more think it was 25’. Our job was to open all the end rows on a irregular shaped bottom field (maybe 300 acres) while a 8820 Titan II with a 12 row bean head was literally eating our lunch. I still think, with 30” rows, a row crop bean head is an option.
