You know anyone who hunts coyotes at night with thermal scopes/scanners? Their equipment will work just as well. With my thermal binoculars(bearing & chain health checking tool) I can see everything cold/hot in my house. I use it instead of my studfinder if I am looking for studs on an external wall. The drywall screws even stick out like a sore thumb when looking through my thermal equipment.

An IR sensor works with regular optics.
A thermal sensor uses a germanium lens.
Not the same thing at all.

I at no time mentioned IR sensors..... I have THERMAL rifle scopes(sights), scanners and binoculars that are thermal and have germanium lenses. I am not sure why you brought it up, you can get a thermal "clip on" that will indeed work with any regluar rifle scope.
