Gruver Tx
Every area is different and not sure what you are growing or water amount your talking but I put new goosenecks regulators hoses and nozzles on an old 1/2 miler which were over 20 years old. It was like it made it into a different farm as the distribution of water was much closer to being perfect. North Plains Water District has a master irrigator class up in our area and it was a lot of good info I had not paid much attention to as technology had changed and pivots aged. A South plains farmer spoke and had gone back to 10’ spacing on drops as water got lower. I copied his idea and loved it as nozzles were larger with fewer nozzles to clean. There are a lot of 20” and 30” spacing pivots which looks like a nightmare as the pivots age and initial cost. Not what you asked but sometimes there are ways to cut cost on upgrades and make things better and grow better crops. Yes it’s a bitch when water fluctuates so wildly and I wish there were simple nozzles for pivots like variable rate fertilizer tips that could put out larger ranges of output as the water fluctuates.
