Subject: RE: JD 2720 disk ripper opinions

Northeast Indiana
I've only ever had the knife edge baskets on Deere rippers. If you had lighter dryer soil the round bar might work ok, but on our clay soils, the knife edge is the way to go. Also I'm not sure if the internal scraper works on the round bar baskets. One thing to note, when we traded for this 2720, our dealer put on all new disc blades and gang bearings. We had them put on the larger 26" discs instead of 24". The larger discs give you better cutting and covering action on residue and in theory should last longer.
