Dgosse, you might be better off sticking to the PTO pump plan. The thing about the IH 06-86 series (with the exception of the disastrous PFC venture) is that they want to furnish 12 (15-gpm optional) through the hydraulics continually. When you need to "split off" 8 GPM to use for an orbital motor or other circuit, you HAVE to do something with the remaining GPM's...

Thanks Redwrench - and everybody for your input on this.

I think what we're going to do - after speaking to the dealer of the seeder - is hold off on buying any parts until we have eyes on just exactly how the valve works on the seeder. It sounds like this seeder was designed with this type of system in mind. I asked him a couple different ways, one of which being "Do I need a closed center hydraulic system to run this" and he said no. KEEP IN MIND here that this piece of equipment is already paid for, so its not like hes still trying to sell me on it. From the way he described it - the tractor pump will run full flow out of the remote (so, not having to run any oil out of the relief). There is a valve before the pump on the seeder that takes as much oil as needed for the blower (im assuming this will be a manually set valve that I will have to vary some based on my throttle and blower pressure) and directs the rest out. All that is being redirected will be sent straight into the bottom of the transmission - not through the remotes, and not out of the pressure relief of the pump. Therefore, the pump will be working only marginally harder than it would without any load. I have a loader on a 756, run with a joystick that is plumbed the same way. Pressure from the tractor remote feeds the joystick, the excess from the joystick goes into the bottom of the transmission.

If, once we get the seeder, we decide to try to run it without a PTO pump, I also will be installing (actually no matter what I probably will be) a hydraulic oil temp gauge. Any input on specifically where I should install that probe would be great as well. We will monitor it closely and if we get hot, we'll shut it down and find a PTO pump, put a cooler on or both.

Addition: Yes there will be fluctuation in pressure when we raise the 3pt and the blower will probably slow down. That shouldn't be an issue really as long as it doesn't slam the valve shut. As far as the Scout being able to work along with this, we're just going to wait until its all put together and if it works, great, and if it doesn't we wont use it until we get a better system.

Thanks again to all of you - I don't mean to sound like im ignoring anything you folks have suggested. I am most definitely not. You will be seeing a followup of this project somewhere for sure - I intend on making a nice post that follows this cover crop project all season long to inform and breed questions and conversation on this interesting topic.
