I would say the best “out of the box” rake for stalks would be the 48 count rubber mounted tines. The 40 tine rubber mounted wheels do work pretty good as well. With some tweaking, the 48 count steel tines can also be made to work good too. I wouldn’t mess with the 40 tine steel wheels in stalks. If you are raking behind an aggressive processing corn head, stick with a 48 tine wheel.

A lot of what makes a rake work good in stalks has to do with operator adjustments and prior conditioning of the stalks like rolling or shredding them.
