Subject: RE: Rowse hay rake rubber mounted teeth question.

Sioux County, NWIA
I think you will be disappointed. I have had almost zero luck with aftermarket tines. Shoup’s rubber mounted tines for balers are junk. Firsthand experience. Tried steel aftermarket baler tines from Kooima Co. The cheap ones were junk. The expensive PN did last well. Makes me think aftermarket rake tines won’t hold up either. Since you bought the rake used I’m guessing it was used for raking cornstalks in a previous life. That is hard on any kind of tines, especially if they were earlage stalks. My suggestion would be to replace with OEM tines and treat them decent. I think that will be your best bet long term. As I mentioned, I run a Rowse WR20 with the 48 tine all steel wheels. Bought the rake well used (abused), put all new tines and rings on it about right away. Then I started adding Silencer support rings to the wheels. I should have done that right away. I think it at least doubles tine life in cornstalk condition I run in. It has been my experience that the 48 tine wheels hold up far better than the 40 tine wheels.
