NC Kansas | yes... we just use regular old hay rings with a skirt at the bottom. We feed a mix of ground alfalfa and mid range grass and sudan in the winter to our spring calvers in ground hay trailers. Once we get several pairs seperated with calves pushing a month old, we start adding good grass hay in rings free choice and they literally lick the ground clean inside those rings. Dump a sudan or crp bale or even a stemmy low quality alfalfa bale and they get all picky and feel like they wast 1/4 to 1/3 of it. | |
