If you have a salvage yard nearby I would try looking at used ones.
Last fall we got both top and bottom used from Worthington Ag Parts at Worthington, MN for a 1640 Case. Went out in the yard and looked in several combines, picked out the two that we wanted and paid about $400 for the pair.
Just make sure that you check the wires that go through the frame. The ones we got looked like brand new.
