Ne Iowa | In my opinion dribbling out the back like your doing is the right way except scrap the 10-34-0 and use straight 32%, it’ll also be cheaper. Just because someone named it “pop up” doesn’t mean it does a thing to get your corn out of the ground or help with early growth but it does sell lots of nifty planter attachments. Corn mainly relies on the seed for its nutrients until V3, by then the roots have left the seed zone where the “pop up” would be. Hopefully some rain has left that dribbled 32 right where it needs to be to close that “ugly corn” gap before the roots find the NH3. Maybe it’s possible to get the fertilizer too close to the seed by dropping it in the furrow but I could never tell that it helped a thing and maybe even killed some germination. | |
