Subject: RE: Massey 8700s series

I currently own 6 - Massey 8700 series tractors. I have several thousand hours on them. I currently have 1-8737, 2- 8735, 3- 8730. I agree that Massey S's are the most tractor for the money on the market today.

Overall fuel consumption is great with the AGC0 low rpm high torque engine curve. They will run planters and cultivators all day at 1050- 1250 rpms. Agco Massey and Fendt tractors are designed to run at these low rpm's.. The biggest benefit is very low fuel consumption. We can run 3.5- 4 days on a tank of diesel. Case and Deere cannot operate or compete at those low rpm's.

The transmission is Fendt mfg with a high low shift collar. It is critical to be stopped when shifting from rabbit to turtle.

One of my biggest problems are the remote valves that have failed on a daily basis. It's hard to imagen how something as simple as a remote can be a source of constant failure !!!! All of my equipment has hydraulic folding wings. Massey needs to change this immediately !!!! NO EXCUSE FOR CONSTANT FAILURE. That being said; I have 2 new 8730 S coming at the end of the year. I have also ordered 2 900 Fendts that will arrive soon; but at a much higher price.
