Ohio | Hello, first of all let me understand what kind of platform are you using on your STX to know what instruction you need, it is hydraulic or AG Ready platform.
Second about your 40 error, it is a normal common problem if you NAV II/III is not setup correctly, first of all check that you are using firmware 13.75 on your NAVController, and 10.18 on your FMX to may be able to chose IMD900 as your steering sensor. This firmware supports IMD900. I think your NAV is setted up to work with Autosense thats why you are getting this error.
And check your IMD900 conections. See picture below
