semnjoe - 12/10/2021 11:55 Anyone of you who replied come from a Geringhoff? If yes, would you ever go back?

Forgot to answer your specific Geringhoff question. Gerringhoff is the header I have the second most experience with.

I know a lot of guys swear by them and maybe the one I ran was not in good shape (I do think the gathering chains could have stood to have been replaced) or maybe I was doing something terribly wrong but if someone gave me a Gerringhoff I would put it on auction the same day.

Even if gathering chains flying off all the time was because of something wrong with my header (not convinced since they mount a tool on the back of the head to make it easy to re-install the gathering chains) the thing is still HORRIBLE for how it disturbs the plant coming into the header. It is a TERRIBLE head for down corn or corn that has the ears hanging by a thread. The manner in which the plant comes into the machine can accurately be described as violent. There is nothing about that head that appeals to me.

I believe the one I ran was a 2012 model. Maybe they are better now.
