Subject: RE: Gleaner command corn head 3300

I’ve run a Geringhoff on a Case and a Command (briefly) on a Gleaner. I primarily run a 3000 with a Calmer deck plates on a Gleaner but I have also run a Drago GT on a Case 7250 and a Capello on a Deere 770.

I guess if I had my choice of heads for my Gleaner after all of those experiences I would probably go with the Capello.

There is nothing wrong with the Drago GT but I like simple and it has more parts than I like to see even if they are well built. What I really like about the Capello is that it’s almost magical how little it disturbs the plants as they feed in. They are also pretty decent for not bringing too much residue in.

I don’t feel any particular fondness in my heart for a Command head. Nothing terrible about it but it’s just a header.

All headers installed on a Gleaner have one huge disadvantage and that is, once you get them set up good for a Gleaner you really don’t want to have to convert them back to work on anything else. Auger and throat mods are generally substantial to make them perform well. So I guess that is a plus for the Command if you have a Gleaner. At least you don’t have to get it modified to be happy on a Gleaner.
