Callao, Missouri | I bought a new 42ft trailer last year here in north mo, took it to SE KS to pickup a 40ft Macdon. First thing I noticed when the dealer that I bought the trailer from delivered it to me was the axles didn’t appear to be square to each other. Meaning that when you stood behind it and looked at the tandem tires, one would be leaning inward/outward more than the other.
I got down there to se ks with it and did another walk around for this brand new header trailer before we loaded the head. Found five hubs that needed to be tightened up. Got that done, loaded the head and came home without issue.
For what I do with it now- short hauls less than 30 miles/yr it’s just fine. But I wouldn’t recommend it if your moving a lot. I also noted that the beams of the trailer aren’t one piece, but rather have diagonal welds splicing one to the other. Not much grease in the hubs either. Kind of wish the tongue was made out of larger square tubing, but it’s hard enough to lift as is. The safety chains look like something you hang a kids swing with.
But all in all it was the cheapest option I’d found by far and works just fine for my limited use. I have other headers around here sitting on much worse.
