Subject: RE: What steel building manufacturer for DIY?

Central, IA
The bottom girt is commonly found at 7'4" That allows a 7' metal framed door to be installed anywhere with little framing. Just anchor the bottom in concrete and screw the top into the girt. Wood and 8' increments aren't a consideration in the steel framed building industry.

It's not really wasted space. The girt is inside the building regardless of bypass or flush. The ridgid frames do stick in an additional 8" with the bypass. Would be noticeable on a 30' wide building, but not worth the effort on a 100' wide building. My pallet racking sticks out further than the frame posts do. It would be interesting to price. I bet a 1' wider building with bypass girts would be about the same price as flush girts.
