nwokman has a very good point. Something appears fishy on this MTL rave from American Built. Look up American Built, you get Cliff Blanchard. Google MTL attachments and you'll find them at https://cliff-blanchard.squarespace.com/. A video about MTL is on YouTube from Kaylee Blanchard. Americas Idea, Inc, the corporate owner of MTL, is owned by James Blanchard, with Cliff as the VP and Michael as the Secretary. This does not look right.

Back to the topic. My CAT dealer demo'ed a Virnig V60, which looked great, but was almost $14K. What would you get with Virnig at $14k that you don't get with the lower-priced stuff?

I was just about ready to pop for an MTL until I read nwokman's post (Thanks, Mark!)

Any objective advice here? I went to the Diamond site, but their Rotary Mower appears to be just a brush cutter with no carbide teeth to chew up the stumps. I have a high-flow 246D3 and want to clear fence lines with up to about 5" trees.

I would comment that I find iseedit's post to be persuasive. He said:

Quote: When looking at brush (and tree) cutters - smaller is better. There aren't any skid steers made that can handle a 7 inch tree without stalling out as you are mulching it down. I too favor Diamond, as they stand behind their products and I've used several different brush cutters over the years. Diamond was on top. The other brand up there on top is Brushwolf by Cross-tech corp. They were one of the first to build a brush cutter in the industry.

When you are talking 7 inch trees - and especially 7 inch or larger trees, a blade type mower isn't going to hold up. It'll take some down, but, it's going to beat the crap out of it and there will be damage and expense . . . . . . End of Quote.

I'm suspecting that the claims for these brush cutters to be mobile chain saws is a bit overdone.

Thanks
