Grand Rapids, MI | Most laptops nowdays will automatically sense an external monitor on that port and provide the video to it. The OP might be wise to explore if that is the case with his laptop. If no video from either port, then the problem runs deeper, probably means a new laptop. Make sure the external monitor is plugged into the port and turned on before the laptop is restarted.
If the external port works, then my $ would be on either the wiring as ringo describes, the inverter board, or the backlight. If you look real close under bright light can you see anything on the screen? If so it is your backlight.
If you do replace the laptop, pull your HDD and get an adapter to transfer your data to a new machine. | |
