All of the statues and paintings of Jesus I have ever seen were all very similar in appearance of what I guess I’d call being of white European descent. Because I had never seen him portrayed as anything else I had just assumed that they had deduced his appearance from gleaming info from ancient scriptures. I honestly just never gave it a seconds thought. Maybe 10 years ago now I read an article about an ongoing controversy that suggested that it made more sense that he was much darker skinned. I remember realizing that Jesus likely wouldn’t look at all like I assumed he did and if Jesus passed by me on the street I almost certainly wouldn’t recognize him.
There is nothing wrong with your post. It is an interesting topic to think about.
I also grew up thinking nothing about it. But when I was 15 or so, my grandfather discussed it with me. I started researching it and became very interested in it. And thank you. It is nice hearing that someone does find it interesting to talk about. |
