The Bible describes Jesus, in life, in very general terms. From Isiah 53 comes the following:

For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and decides.

o beauty that we should desire him
.

For Jesus to have been physically appealing might serve to diminish his spirituality, the fact that we might be drawn to him rather than the God he represents.

As far as his heavenly description, check out the verses on this page. It is unimportant how mankind, in his limited capacity to understand, has previously depicted the appearance of Christ on earth.

But don't you feel it is important to be historically accurate in how we portray Christ when he was alive. Obviously Jesus is all of us. But he was once a living man and I feel we should depict him more accurately than we do.

No. We're all going to get new bodies. We'll all be transformed.

Think how scripture describes the physical characteristics of Jesus. And then look how we depict him in children's books, paintings, etc. Shouldn't we depict Jesus the way he was described in the Bible?

And what exactly is that description?

I described it in the original post.

Are you referring to the description from Revelation? Because that is not relevant to his earthly appearance.

Like I said, it is all described in the original post. When the men who came to arrest Jesus, they did not know who he was. He looked like all his other deciples, who were not white. Also, we know Jesus was no physically attractive because it would have distracted from his message. He looked like an ordinary Jewish man of his time. Had he been white with blue eyes and brown hair, he'd have definitely stood out. And our modern depictions of Jesus do make him look physically attractive.

All I can say is that if you are so hung up on how Jesus is physically portrayed you are missing the point. Totally.
