NC Iowa | I feed 95% baleage that is baled with a cutter baler, they do not stay together very well.
Best way I have found;. I cut a slit in the plastic and pull bale out, leaving plastic in one long string, makes it easier to clean up and not have hundreds of individual pieces . Set bale pretty close to feeder on flat part, unroll net wrap, I don't know why but they stay together much better then cutting it off, I then use a double bale spear, or a set of forks and lift under bale, drive gently to feeder and dump in. I lose a tiny bit, but not much.
Cutting over the feeder works, but is very dangerous, I did that for a year and after about going odd edge of feeder I rethought that. | |
