... The jury was correct, but there is another story behind it...
The other story was the criminal record of the deceased "jogger", it included thefts and fighting police. So what the convicted assumed about the "jogger" was in fact correct. I agree with Sand85 that guns were not needed, but there was a citizens arrest law in place at the time, and maybe they had the right to be armed?
To bring this back to Wisconsin, maybe the paralyzed spousal abuser shouldn't have been shot in the back after fighting off cops and trying to get back into his vehicle, and/or knife? The last time he had interacted with police, he had threatened people in a bar with a gun, left in the same vehicle with a gun at that time. The shooting seems a lot more reasonable in context with the facts. | |
