When running a 893 on our 9500, we installed a "wedge kit" to reduce the header angle. We also installed a larger sprocket on the cross auger to slow it down. Both helped move the trash into the machine, didn't reduce it, but it fed better. In trashy conditions we also flipped up the earsaver over the feeder house to aid feeding. We sold the kit when we switched to a 9660 STS.
To reduce the amount of trash, try Calmers slow down kit, it works for us. As long as your snapping rolls are in good condition, the slow down kit should help. Before you change to Calmer rolls or any other knife rolls you may have to replace the triple cluster gear in your gearboxes, we had to on our early 90 Series head.

Where did you get your wedge kit? I seen an ad for one of those somehwhere this fall and dont know where it was now and was just thinking the other day that might help with some of the short corn I have this year. |
