Subject: Re: Tiling Question

Our experience is that you need to get the water away before it gets to the low ground so we usually tile the perimeter of a wet spot instead of directly in the middle of the wet spot. That may be what your tileman was thinking. Also, may be as plowman said & the low area may have been too low to run a tile into it.

I would give him a call & ask why he did it as he did. If the first scenario was the case & the grade was such that he could get a tile into the low area I would have him come back & do so. As for payment, I would pay for what he did & for any tile he puts in the low area if possible. You're going to benifit from all the tile so pay.

In the past I have had ideas as to how I want a field or area tiled but when the tileman gets there either it can't be done that way or he sees a better way to do it. I defer to his judgement as he has more experience.
