If the trash is JUST piling up in front of the feederhouse it may be backfeeding from the cylinder. Backfeeding down the feederhouse may indicate your cylinder bars are worn. Been battling this all year. If you have the updated JD plastic snouts on (the hinge for the point is farther back than the metal ones) the biggest difference to a 693 would be adjustable plates, which can help with trash intake. I'm seriously considering calmer's parts too.......
