Some of these older machines can have junk rolling around in the bottom of the tank that will intermittently block fuel flow. Keep checking the fuel flow from the tank.
If it has the D358 with the mechanical head, it will not need much fuel pressure. These could run with gravity flow, and I think they can generate their own head.
