Owings, Maryland 38.6856 N 76.6752 W | When cutting pipe to be prepped, fit. I opt for a "00" or they call it a "double oaugt" in the business, you know, it sounds kewl !!!! Pipe wall is 1/4"-5/16". Most will say that is too small but after you get the hang of it, it will cut very clean. For demo/salvage type work I opt for a # 2 tip. Most will say it is too small as well but it is a conservative large tip, you can cut heavy and not waste your oxy/acet.
Most important aspect of a cutting tip is cleanliness, blow hole needs to be spotless, if not the cutting oxy will not blow true and you will end up with sharkbite,
If you were going to have one tip in your pocket I would suggest a #1. Rarely will you come up against anything you cant cut on the farm with that.............. |
