Windom, MN | Why are you farming ?? Are you not making money (profit)?? Why are land prices so high ?? Whose neighbor is outbidding who ?? If your dad bought prime land at $250 an acre and now you sell it for $6000 lets figure out the mark-up there??If you're not making money, get the h*ll out of your occupation. It's a business just like a dealer. Obviously a few years back, alot of dealers had to close their doors just like the farmers had auctions. Farmers had to have sales because of the bad times. When a dealer went out of business it was blamed on poor management.....why is that?? When a farmer spends his money locally here, I spend it locally too, advertising (local radio and paper), school sports boosters and raffles, county fair livestock auctions, I participate and teach (no pay) 4H farm safety along with supplying some of the equipment for that which means getting it ready, bringing it to, bringing it back and cleaning it up after(all donated for farm kids). I am an associate member of my county's FFA, 4H, beef, pork, dairy, lamb and wool, corn, soybean, deer hunters, pheasant hunters and snowmobile club. I donate to all this because my customers buy here and in turn I give some of my mark-up back to the community. I do this because I want to and my customers know this and appreciate it. Around here we have a close knit community, it sounds like alot of you are just for you................that is what's sad. | |
