The triple reel is an option on the FD240 and is standard on the FD245 & FD250. The tine tubes on triple reel headers are aluminum. The triple reel option on the FD240 also requires double knife drive. The performance advantage of the triple reel is being able to set the reel tines 1/2" off the guards for maximum performance in lodged or short crop without cutting the reel fingers off - even in maximum flex. The flex points on the reel match the flex points of the header frame. Another benefit to the triple reel is superb visibility in the center of the head.
