Oh, it certainly exists, and is very strong in some invavsive species. In California the Eucalyptus (sp?) groves are an excellent example. Nothing grows in there but Eucalyptus trees. Here in Mass, there is a weed of ditchbanks and roadsides, everyone calls bamboo, but it is some invasive from Japan, it chokes out everything, even Sumac!
