| We had that problem last year and what we ended up making one pass into the standing stalks with our To The Max harrow ahead of a rain then after it dried up came in and planted it. Getting a rain on the stalks after harrowing them settled them out so they weren't as fluffy and resulted in much less residue cover by planting time. Running the harrow helped break the stalks up and mixed just a little dirt in with them so the ground dried and warmed up much better. We ended up with a great stand and we've only combined one field so far and while it wasn't as good as it probably would have been if it had been ripped last fall we were pretty happy with how it turned out. We thought about getting a soil finisher to run through stalks but as wet as it was all spring alot of the ground would have never dried out enough to run a finisher. | |
