| (IF) we can't get to the ground (lets face it, i think we'll be watching it thaw in january and then chisel right after it freezes up a little at night so its not muck and do 50-60acres a day), we're going to double up passes with the Krause TL-6200 finisher. We've always ran deep compared to most people, yet they all compliment how nice of a job it does... :shrugs:.
We generally run our finisher with the blades bottomed out as far down as they'll go (first year with the krause for '10 so we'll see if i like it more than the Deere it replaced) and we run the shanks about 3.5-4.5" deep. It's worked well in the past on our corn-corn rotations, just move it up to a higher priority to chisel that fall since it'll have two years of compaction built on it. We've always been able to get a pretty good crop out of it, just generally have to wait 3-5 days for the soil temps to warm up and dry out since there's all the residue covering the soil.
Not saying its the right thing to do or the best idea...but it works for us | |
