| I went through the same thing when I was that age and I actually had to have cortisone injections to get me through the pain at the time. What I would recommend for your son is to find someone who performs Bowen Therapy which is a real deep massage that will help fix the damage done to the muscle tissues which is deep because it is starting affect his sciatic nerve which isn't good. I will only take one or two sessions for him to get back to normal if it is the muscles. I had it done this summer because I was in extreme pain where I couldn't do anything to get comfortable and no medications were working and one session fixed it all. Alot of people that have Bowen Therapy done say they feel as flexible as a ten year old after.
Another thing I did when I was 16 was work on my flexibility more because you can be as fit and strong as you want but if muscles are tense all the time it only takes one hit or movement the wrong way.
