Mountain West

Lots of printed money sloshing around in the economy.  People are staying home and ordering lots and lots of crap off the internet; it is overloading the supply chain.  The port of Long Beach announced it will run 24/7.  UPS and FedEx are ramping up.

On our end, we are getting shortages and inflation.

Some saw this coming years ago and wanted to open a big port in Mexico with cannonball lines to Kansas City for central distribution.

Not sure this crass consumerism is the best way to organize an economy.  I run a modest household and the amount of trash we generate is embarrassing.  I joke that perfection of our lifestyle will be semi-trucks and trains delivering product in one side of a Walmart megaplex, while on the other side of the megaplex trucks and trains haul it off to a landfill; no need for the intermediary step of hauling it home and storing it in our house for a while.
