central mo | Not sure about an upgrade but when I clean installed 7 onto a machine that previously had Vista on it, the install asked me if I wanted to keep existing data or not. I said YES and it backed up ONLY the User profiles. NOT the entire C drive. It created a folder on Win7's C drive called windows.old and put everything in there for me. It did what I needed but, No matter what, I'd suggest creating backups of everything either way and not to rely on Windows 7 to do it for you.
And again, this was for a Fresh install ... not an upgrade so things might be different for you. | |
