I feel your pain.
New fd135 same issue. 3 feet from each end is where ours starts.

7230 throat all the way back. Running midway between A and B after dark which is pretty tall and still drags occasionally.

Havent consulted dealer. We aint exactly inept. Read book, played with down pressure but in hills and terrace backs we'd like to have the head stay on the ground. Never drags in middle.

Our skid plates are all the way up. Another forum suggests taking them off as head is meant to skid on sickle skids. You could try that but wont help us 3 feet in.

We are very dry and i wonder if there is less friction between trash/leaves/stems on ground and the dry dirt underneath....just spitballin.

We are open to suggestions.
